The Splendid World

I’ve been photographing our splendid world for five decades
and am still enthralled by the beauty, diversity, and intelligence
of even the most minute creatures. An erstwhile wildlife biologist,
I try not to disturb the animals and habitats I’m photographing
but rather capture natural behaviors in extraordinary settings.

After a full career communicating about medical and financial
science, I am delighted to focus once again on bringing natural
science alive through dramatic images and amazing creatures
from far-flung locations.

In addition to loving the natural world, I have always been fascinated
by the splendid world within each of us, the private world organized and colored by our innate being and the experiences we’ve had.
I explore this interest in part through other art forms, such as abstract painting—where a colorful visual gesture can elicit a deep and
intriguing psychological resonance.
